Burglars breaking in to boats at Washington's Landing marina

PITTSBURGH — Burglars have been breaking in to boats at Washington’s Landing Marina, previously known as Herrs Island, according to boat owners.

One boat owner said someone broke in overnight Friday but did not take anything.

Another boater said thieves tried breaking in to his boat while he was sleeping inside it.

Boat owner Rick Joseph said that although the thieves have not gotten away with much, they have taken away a sense of security.

“It's very unnerving. These boats here are like our homes during the summer," said Joseph.

Some of the boat owners told Channel 11 that they plan to get security systems.
