According to Channel 11’s news exchange partners at TribLIVE, 62-year-old John Saunders of Irwin is charged by Scottdale police with receiving stolen property and theft.
Police said Patricia Hill found nine cases of whiskey hidden in the walls and stairwell of the century-old mansion built by industrialist J.P. Brennan after she bought it in 2012. The whiskey was bottled in 1912 by the nearby West Overton Distilling Co.
Scottdale police said Saunders drank 52 bottles of whiskey valued at $102,400 by the Bonhams auction house in New York.
Saunders is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
