Cat put down after being hit with arrow; Search for shooter continues

BRIDGEVILLE, Pa. — Authorities are investigating after a pet owner found his cat dangling from his window with an arrow in it -- forcing the cat to be put down.

Ron Iorio told Channel 11's Brandon Hudson that his cat was shot with an arrow Sunday night at his apartment building in Bridgeville.

“There was blood out to here. It must have been where the cat was shot,” Iorio said. “It was hard to tell because the blood was all the way here. I was surprised that she was still alive during this.”

Iorio said animal control officers were forced to put his cat down.

“It was just growling and they told me not to pull the arrow out,” Iorio said. “I’ve never seen an arrow in an animal before.”

Iorio described the pet as a friendly and loyal animal, and has this message for whoever shot his cat.

“What happens if he wants to kill other animals or a dog or somebody else’s pet? I think it could get worse,” Iorio said.

Iorio said he’s gotten a lot of support from neighbors and people on social media -- including strangers.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Bridgeville police.
