• Charges reduced for couple who let 10-year-old girl ride in dog cage

    Updated:

MILLVALE, Pa. - The couple accused of letting a young girl ride in a dog cage in the back of a pickup truck is facing lesser charges.

In May, concerned travelers on the Pennsylvania Turnpike called police and took photographs of the girl while she was riding in the cage.

Police said Abbey Carlson and her boyfriend, Thomas Fishinger, let Carlson’s 10-year-old daughter ride in the cage from Beaver County to Millvale.

Fishinger’s lawyer said the judge reduced the charges after the couple completed parenting classes.

The charges were reduced to a traffic citation for Fishinger and disorderly conduct for Carlson.
