Child, 7, mauled by 3 dogs in Butler Township

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police in Butler Township said a 7-year-old boy was injured when three loose dogs attacked him over the weekend.

Investigators said the three boxers got out of their owner's yard through an unlocked gate and attacked the child in the South Main Street Hill area.

Officers said the child was saved by a passing man who saw the dogs attacking him.

“This man saw the dogs mauling the kids and he ran out, jumped on top of the boy and got bit himself,” Butler Township Police Lt. John Hayes said.

The boy suffered several lacerations to his face and had to undergo surgery. He was released from the hospital Tuesday, reported Channel 11's Amy Marcinkiewicz.

“We talked to the boy’s family yesterday and saw the little boy. He’s going to pull through this,” Hayes said.

Police said the dogs have been quarantined in the owner's house. There is no word on whether charges will be filed.
