• Children injured in minivan crash on Parkway East

SWISSVALE, Pa. - Five children are recovering in Children’s Hospital after a minivan went off the Parkway East and down a hillside.

The accident happened just before lunchtime on the Parkway East near the Swissvale exit.

State police said the driver lost control.

"Traveling in the left lane and the vehicle flipped over into the right lane, striking another vehicle and then rolling off on to the hillside," said Trooper Robin Mungo of state police.

While emergency crews rushed to the scene, Channel 11’s Brandon Hudson learned help was already there.

“There were people who assisted getting them up off the hillside,” said Mungo.

The driver, a mom, was also taken to a nearby hospital.
