• Christmas tree seller can keep spot in Northway Mall parking lot

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Channel 11 has new details about a business owner who feared he would be forced out before his most vital weeks of the year.

Ron Steck has sold Christmas trees in a lot on McKnight Road for decades, but last week he was told he had 24 hours to pack up and move the trees.

Steck owns Santa’s Christmas Trees at Northway Mall, and right before Thanksgiving he got a letter from the leasing agent telling him his lease was terminated.

“I don’t know what all this hulla-baloo is over parking spaces, because the mall actually told me where to set up here,” said Steck.

Steck’s Friday deadline came and went with no word from the leasing agent, so Channel 11 called the company.

Christopher Zamais, the leasing agent for Northway, said he will not force Steck to move and added, “We are going to work together to resolve this issue.”

“I’ve had people come in from Penn Hills, Sewickley and outlying areas.  It makes you feel good in that respect that they are supporting me,” said Steck.
