Community remembers women who died in Fineview house fire at vigil

PITTSBURGH — The Fineview community came together for a vigil on Friday night to remember two women killed in a fire.

Cathy Arkus and Judy Rassias died in the fire on Belleau Street Wednesday.

Neighbors told Channel 11 reporter Timyka Artist that Arkus and Rassias were dog lovers.  Last Friday, "Doggie Night" was held at the women's home.

Through hardship and heartache, Marcia Kraus said they always managed to find a silver lining.

"Both of them had medical issues.  They went through a lot.  You never heard them complain," said Kraus.

Fred Nene said he can't walk past the home without getting choked up.

"It's just a big tragedy and a big empty spot in the neighborhood," he said.

Two dogs and a cat also died in the fire.
