Overnight winter storm will create slick conditions that could last into the morning commute

PITTSBURGH — A wintry mix of rain and freezing rain will leave roads and sidewalks slick in spots overnight, but warmer temperatures will change the mix to rain for most areas by sunrise.

A glaze of ice will be possible before the morning commute, but the warmup will leave most roads mainly wet by 7 a.m. Icy conditions will last longer north and east of Pittsburgh and there could be slick spots in sheltered valleys around Allegheny, Butler and Beaver counties so check the live Severe Weather Team 11 forecast on Channel 11 news before heading out.

Rain showers will gradually end by mid-morning with high temperatures rebounding into the low 50s.

Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for most areas with an Ice Storm Warning in effect for the higher elevations where more ice is expected.
