• Convicted sex offender accused of inappropriate contact with girl, 13

JEANNETTE, Pa. - A convicted sex offender was arrested Friday after police said he sent more than 1,000 Facebook messages to a 13-year-old girl.

According to police, Timothy Kelly is facing several felony counts of child pornography and indecent behavior with a minor.

"Our sergeant who's involved the crime task force of child pornography located several pictures and videos on this individual's computer,” Greensburg police Capt. George Serako said.

Seranko said Kelly was arrested after authorities raided his Jeannette home and confiscated his computer.

Investigators said Kelly sent the girl nude photos of himself and asked her to perform sex acts with him.

The original arrest warrant was from Louisiana and only pertained to the illegal contact with the 13-year-old, police said.

Kelly’s fiancé Mary Macklefresh defended her soon-to-be husband.

“I don’t believe the charges,” Macklefresh said. “I’ve been with him for four years and he’s never sent naked pictures of himself or videos to any girl over the Internet.”

Authorities said Kelly has faced several sex crime charges in the past.
