Family, friends remember 2 men killed in McCandless crash

McCANDLESS, Pa. — Family and friends are remembering two men killed in an accident in McCandless late Friday night.

John Richards and Michael Brunner, both of Allison Park, died after their vehicle crashed into a tree near UPMC Passavant just before 12 a.m.

Richards would have turned 28 on Saturday.

"We literally lost one of our best friends, and it was his birthday today and we should be celebrating his birthday right now," said one friend.

Balloons, flowers and other items placed at the scene of the crash honor the friends.

Richards' cousin, Marissa Holdcroft, said, "He was an amazing person. He would honestly do anything for anyone and he would be there in a second if you ever needed him. I can't believe something like this would ever happen."

Richards and Brunner were North Allegheny High School graduates.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
