Crews battle flames at Butler County grocery store

EAU CLAIRE, Pa. — Crews rushed to the scene of a business fire late Thursday night in Butler County.

Authorities said Thompson’s Market on Main Street in Eau Claire caught fire around 9 p.m. Thursday.

Crews struggled to extinguish the blaze at the grocery store because they kept running out of water, officials said. More than a dozen water tanker trucks were used.

"We arrived on scene, made entry into the building, got knocked down by the heat and smoke pretty good. Attempted a second entry and by that time, it was going through the roof, had to pull all the crews out for safety,” assistant fire Chief Josh Sullivan said.

Officials said no injuries were reported, and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
