• 61-year-old man identified as Yough River drowning victim

    LOWER TYRONE TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A 61-year-old man drowned Monday afternoon in the Youghiogheny River.

    William Philips, of McMurray, rolled a kayak in a section of the river located in Lower Tyrone Township.

    Authorities said that the accidental drowning occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. Monday.

    Medical personnel were summoned after Phillips was turned upright. He was transported to Uniontown Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

    An investigation is ongoing.
