Criminal complaint: 3 arrested, heroin confiscated during traffic stop

McDONALD, Pa. — Police confiscated several dozen bags of heroin and made three arrests during a traffic stop in McDonald, according to a criminal complaint.

Authorities told Channel 11's Cara Sapida that McDonald police made a traffic stop and then found 80 bags of heroin in the vehicle.

The complaint said the drugs, needles and other paraphernalia were found in a purple Crown Royale bag.

Arrested during the incident were Greg Bayless, Stephen Bayless and Lorena Craig, according to the complaint.

"Phones were actively going off in the cup holder.  We could see what the texts were," said officer Rich France.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court recently ruled officers don't need a warrant to search car.   In this case, police said they went out of their way to get warrants anyway to make sure the charges stick.

"We thought it was safer," said France.

News of the arrest spread through the town.

"I'm tired of seeing our kids wrapped up on it. I'm sick of moms and dads coming in here crying because they are losing their kids," said hair salon owner Tammmy Bain.

"We will not tolerate drug use in McDonald.  We have officers who are taking narcotics off the streets, a 46-undercover agent task force," said France.
