Criminal on the run after escaping police custody at Mercy Hospital

PITTSBURGH — Police have released a photo of a man with an extensive criminal history who they say is on the run after escaping from UPMC Mercy Hospital on Thursday.

Authorities said Kenneth Killer Jr. was admitted to Mercy on Wednesday night for chest pains. Thursday around 8:30 a.m., police said Killer left his hospital room, physically struggled with UPMC security officers and eventually left the hospital.

Killer was last seen running on foot toward the Hill District, officials said.

Killer is currently serving jail time for possession with intent to deliver at the Renewal Community Corrections Center, police said.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Anyone with information on Killer’s whereabouts is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police at 412-299-1607.
