PITTSBURGH — A social media post inviting people to Pittsburgh International Airport this Friday for a hot air balloon festival is taking off, but the issue is -- there is no event.
The airport is urging people not to come to the terminal, unless it is for a scheduled flight.
👏👏Listen up, friends: we are NOT hosting a hot air balloon event this Friday! Someone created a social media post saying an event will be held at PIT on 10/23, but balloons and planes don’t mix. More here: https://t.co/1CkhAORD8d. pic.twitter.com/0RvgtOFcBX

In a statement provided to Channel 11, an airport spokesperson says, “We understand this confusion has inconvenienced families and aviation enthusiasts, and we share your frustration. Our hope is to spread this message to everyone who may be planning to arrive at PIT on Friday and save them further disappointment."
The airport says the post was not created or approved by the Allegheny County Airport Authority (ACAA) or anyone affiliated with their department.
