Dog rescued after being abandoned for days in Avalon home

AVALON, Pa. — A dog left abandoned by its owners in an Avalon home has been rescued and taken to Animal Friends.

WPXI reporter Amy Marcinkiewicz spoke to Mike Bodycombe, a concerned neighbor who said the family moved out of their second-story apartment last week.

After hearing barking coming from the house for days, Bodycombe decided to check in on the dog. He grabbed a ladder, climbed to the second story, and used a broken window to gain access to the animal.

He said the dog was left with no food or water, and without electricity, the home was freezing. The smell was also getting unbearable, he said.

Bodycombe sought help from Avalon police to rescue the dog. Police said, they were filing the proper paperwork, and the dog was rescued soon after.

The dog was taken to Animal Friends by humane officers Saturday.
