• Driver swerves to avoid squirrel, crashes into abandoned Hempfield Township business

    HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A driver who swerved to miss a squirrel ended up crashing into an abandoned business in Hempfield Township Friday morning.

    The crash happened near the Route 66 toll booth shortly after 10 a.m.

    Police said the driver told them she swerved to miss a squirrel and lost control of the vehicle. She crashed through a fence into what appeared to be an abandoned auto body shop.

    There’s no word on whether the driver was injured.
