Drug raid nets 2 suspected heroin, cocaine traffickers

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Police arrested two men Tuesday morning during a drug raid in Washington County accused of heroin and cocaine trafficking.

Washington County District Attorney Eugene Vittone said Wayne Murphy, 20, and Matthew Leavans, 20, were arrested after authorities executed a search warrant at a home along East Maiden Street in Washington.

Vittone said officers seized 287 baggies of heroin, more than $300 in cash and drug paraphernalia.

"This operation demonstrates what can result from cooperative professional police efforts and I appreciate the work done by the Pennsylvania State Police, Washington Police Department and the detectives of the Washington County Drug Task Force in continuing to aggressively pursue those selling dangerous drugs in our community,” Vittone said.

Murphy and Leavens are facing several charges including delivery and possession of heroin, Vittone said.
