DumpBusters help remove garbage from Stanton Heights

PITTSBURGH — A group of people worked Saturday to clear illegally dumped garbage from part of Stanton Heights.

Volunteers from the Allegheny CleanWays DumpBusters program joined residents of Morningside and Stanton Height to clear an illegal dump site in the area.

“It’s just a shame. We can’t get the road fixed, we can't get the weeds cleaned up, we got people coming up here dumping over the side of the road and everything else,” said Beverly Rumpert of Stanton Heights.

“We've actually been here six or seven times. We’ve hauled out more than 7,000 pounds of debris, 100 tires, 900 pounds of metal,” said Leah Thill of Allegheny CleanWays.

DumpBusters was started in 2010, and has since removed 500 tons of debris from Pittsburgh and surrounding communities.
