Etna man ID'd as victim of fatal hit-and-run

PITTSBURGH — The pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run Saturday on Liberty Avenue near the Bloomfield Bridge was identified Sunday as Chad Vida, 40, of Etna, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said.

The office planned to do an autopsy on Sunday.

Vida was hit by a motorist about 11:45 a.m. after an argument that began on Fisk Street and continued onto Liberty Avenue, police said.

The motorist, driving an SUV, drove back to his girlfriend's home on Fisk Street and called 911. Vida died in UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland.

Police have interviewed the driver, but hadn't identified or charged him.
