Family, friends hold vigil for shooting victim on 1-year anniversary of death

McKEESPORT, Pa. — Family and friends remembered an 18-year-old man Monday night who was shot and killed while sitting on a porch one year ago.

Chauncey Williams, who had just graduated from East Allegheny High School, was fatally shot June 1, 2012 while sitting with a group of people at a home on Craig Street in McKeesport.

Family and friends gathered at the McKeesport Cemetery Monday night to light candles and release balloons in Williams’ honor.

“He’d smile ear to ear. A lot of times you don’t realize how much you’re loved. I know he knows he was loved. I know he feels right now that he was loved,” Shyvag Huggins said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and investigators said they’re still unsure if Williams was the intended target.
