Fatal accident shuts down I-79 north near Marianna

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — Washington County 911 dispatchers said one person was killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 79.

Authorities said the accident, involving an West Penn Power truck and a car, was reported about 4:30 p.m. near mile marker 23 in Marianna northbound.

According to police, one person died in the crash and other was rushed to an area hospital. Their names have not been released.

Officials said the northbound lanes in the area of the accident were closed while crews investigated and cleared the scene.

No information about the crash has been released.
