Father pleads for answers after 2 sons killed in separate shootings

PITTSBURGH — A father who has lost two sons to gunfire in less than a month said his strong faith is the only way he’s coping with two devastating losses.

Channel 11’s Jodine Costanzo talked with Rev. Brian Wright about what he and his family are going through.

"I am devastated, but there's something about the power of the Holy Ghost," Wright said.

Within weeks, both of Wright's sons were gunned down within blocks of each other.

Saturday, 26-year-old Brian Wright was found gunned down on Enterprise Street in Larimer. Earlier this month, 32-year-old Maurice Bruce was killed on nearby Hamilton Avenue in Homewood.

Wright is still looking for answers of why both of his boys were killed.

“We need to be there to wrap ourselves around the grandchildren who now don’t have fathers,” Wright said.

Wright told Costanzo that both of his sons were “good boys” and he has no idea why they were targets of street violence. He is also pleading for any possible witnesses to come forward.

“It’ll be a different thing when it’s your son. Or when it’s your two sons back to back,” Wright said.

Homicide detectives said they’re looking into whether the two killings are connected. No arrests have been made in either case.

Wright said his family is holding a candlelight vigil Tuesday night.
