Father, son ordered to trial in 2011 Connellsville slaying

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man and his son have been ordered to stand trial on charges that they killed and robbed a man more than two years ago.

Robert Daniels Jr., 42, and Robert Daniels III, 18, are charged in Fayette County in the June 2011 stabbing death of 56-year-old David Gida following a party in the victim's apartment in Connellsville.

A police sergeant testified that the younger man told investigators that his father whispered to him "I need you to hold him `cause I'm going to kill him."

Police allege that a gold necklace, a silver ring and a baseball worth about $300 were stolen.

Prosecutors on Thursday added criminal conspiracy charges against both men and an evidence-tampering count against the older defendant.
