Flags placed at half staff to honor officer who died in line of duty in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — Flags were at half staff to honor 45-year-old Cpl. Chad Beattie, who passed away in the line of duty.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office announced that despite life saving measures, Beattie died Wednesday afternoon.

Beattie was assisting the South Strabane Police Department serving a warrant. When he made it back to his cruiser, he suffered a heart attack and died.

Beattie started his law enforcement career in 2002 with the sheriff’s office. He served on the fugitive unit for most of his career.
