MONONGAHELA, Pa. — A man accused of selling drugs to a confidential informant appeared in court Thursday, and his attorney said his job as a former high school soccer coach is not relevant to the case.
"We plan on vigorously defending the case, very clear this has nothing to do with [him being a] school soccer coach," said Eve Elsen, attorney for George Watkins.

Police said Watkins sold heroin to the informant in the parking lot of a Foodland in Monongahela, then walked across the street and offered the drug to an undercover police officer.
During Thursday's hearing, charges against Watkins were waived to court. His attorneys told the judge that he will continue in treatment.
Watkins previously coached at Charleroi Area High School and Elizabeth Forward High School. His attorneys have not said if he used drugs while coaching.
