Fundraiser held to buy protective vest for Ohio Twp. K-9 officer

OHIO TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A fundraiser was held Saturday to raise money for a protective vest for an Ohio Township K-9 officer named Rico.

Rico is a K-9 officer for the Ohio Township Police Department.

Members of the community attended the fundraiser outside the Ohio Township Home Depot, where an obstacle course for dogs was set up in addition to a police K-9 demonstration.

The vest for Rico costs about $2,000.

"This vest would be pretty important if there's someone that's exceptionally violent, or has a gun or a knife. It could possibly save Rico's life someday," said Officer Eric Wallace.
