Gannon student jailed after stripping, assault

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — A student at Gannon University in Erie has been jailed on charges that he fought with campus and city police after first taking off his clothes in the campus library.

Erie police said they were called to Gannon's Nash Library about 2:15 p.m. Sunday after 25-year-old Christopher Hower had taken off his clothes, put them on, then taken them off again while students and faculty watched.

Authorities said Hower allegedly swore, resisted and fought with police. Among other things, police said Hower grabbed a city officer's wrists and threatened to kill him and put a campus officer in a headlock.

A Gannon spokeswoman said she couldn't comment on any discipline Hower might face. He remains in the Erie County Prison.
