Girl, 4, falls out of moving car in Washington Co.

DONEGAL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 4-year-old girl was rushed to Children’s Hospital after she fell out of a moving vehicle Thursday afternoon in Washington County.

According to police, the accident happened on Route 40 near the intersection with Lake Road in Donegal Township.

Investigators told Channel 11 News they’re working to figure out how the girl fell out of the car. Her name and condition haven’t been released.

"We are investigating," Donegal Township police Chief John Yancosek told Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE. "It does appear the child fell out of a moving vehicle."

J.D. Martin, who helped save the girl after she fell, told Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski that he heard tires squealing and then saw the girl.

"I just tried to keep her calm.  I grabbed paper towels, wadded those up and put them on her head.  I tried to calm her and talk to her," saidMartin.

The incident remains under investigation.
