Homestead councilman honored for service to community as pastor

HOMESTEAD, Pa. — The borough of Homestead honored a councilman for his service to the community as a pastor on Saturday.

The Rev. Donald Turner is the pastor of the Second Baptist Church and is a longtime member of the borough council.

Turner has been part of the church for more than 40 years.

The community held a ceremony Saturday afternoon to name the 100 block of West 12th Avenue Turner’s Place. The block begins at West Street near Second Baptist Church and stretches to Sarah Street near Mclean Playground.

"It lets me know God still got the power. God still works everything out in favor of His kingdom building. I'm just overjoyed," said Turner.
