Indiana Co. woman accused of leaving 2 children unsupervised while sleeping

BUFFINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — An Indiana County woman is accused of leaving her two young children unsupervised while she slept on at least two occasions.

Melissa Cassatt is facing charges including endangering the welfare of children after her 2-year-old was found with a dirty diaper inside a Buffington Township home Friday while Cassatt was asleep, police said.

On another date, Cassatt was allegedly sleeping when her 4-year-old son crossed Route 403 to see his grandfather, authorities said.

Indiana County Children and Youth Services was notified and the children will be cared for by their grandparents while their father is at work, police said.
