State police looking for truck drivers accused of stealing gallons of diesel fuel in Indiana County

INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. — State police are looking for two truck drivers accused of working together to steal a couple hundred gallons of diesel fuel in Indiana County.

State troopers said the theft happened at a locally-owned gas station near Armagh.”There were two tractor trailers that pulled into this gas station about the same time, and through the course of an audit it was determined 210 gallons of diesel fuel was stolen,” Trooper Clifford Greenfield said.

The value of the stolen diesel was nearly $1,300.

Surveillance pictures from state police show both a blue and a red cab tractor trailer on the cameras at Krevetski’s convenience store.

Police said they pulled in just before 2 a.m. Wednesday and used a device to manipulate the pumps.

“We believe they were able to somehow able to tamper with the computer system of the fuel pumps and that allowed them to pump the fuel,” Greenfield explained.

This diesel theft does not come as the first in our area.

Crime Stoppers posted pictures of a fuel theft from earlier this month in Fayette County.

It showed pictures of a man accused of stealing $90 dollars of diesel to fill a white box truck.

Investigators are worried that with the rise in prices at the pump, these thefts will become more prevalent.

”We wanted to put it out to the public so that gas station owners are aware, certainly if they might see one of these vehicles to notify us right away, but also to be on alert that this has happened here so it could happen elsewhere,” Greenfield said.

Both of those trucks took off toward Route 22.If you have any tips or information, call state police in Indiana.
