Investigators: Woman admits to breaking into at least 20 cars in Washington Co.

CHARLEROI, Pa. — A 23-year-old Washington County woman admitted to breaking into more than a dozen cars in the past few months, police said Friday.

Authorities said Colleen Snyder confessed to taking items from about 20 cars in the Charleroi area to support her heroin habit.

According to police, officers were able to catch Snyder after a victim chased her down.

“She was covered in mud and was wet. One of the victims caught her inside his car and chased her,” said Charleroi Police Officer John Mitaly.

Investigators said they found some of the reported stolen items in Snyder’s possession.

Alisha Medlan told Channel 11’s Cara Sapida that she was one of the many people who Snyder is accused of burglarizing.

“It was very scary. It made us feel violated,” Medlan said.

According to Medlan, she woke up on Dec. 26 and found her car with the door open. She quickly realized someone had ransacked through it.

“I was very upset, especially with it being Christmas. Only thing good it is (the stolen items) were all old and we had removed the Christmas gifts,” Medlan said.
