Irwin police chief assaulted outside police station, detectives say

IRWIN, Pa. — The Irwin police chief was hospitalized Wednesday after being assaulted outside the police station.

Authorities said Chief Joseph Pocsatko said he was approached by a man asking how to file a complaint, but he refused to give his identity.

Pocstako said the man then attacked him and hit him with a telephone after he ran his license plate.

The suspect is facing charges of aggravated assault on a police officer.
