Judge: Bully gets probation for attacking teenager at school

MONACA, Pa. — A teenager was bullied, and the attack was captured on camera, officials said.  On Thursday, the accused bully was in court.

Last October, 15-year-old Zach Montgomery got jumped from behind and punched in the head more than 20 times at Center Valley High School, officials said.

Warning: The attached video is hard to watch.  The suspect's face is blurred out because he is 14 years old.

Channel 11 asked Montgomery how he's doing now.

"I guess OK.  Any day you smile is a good day," he said.

The 14-year-old charged with assault learned during a hearing Thursday that he will get probation for the crime.  Montgomery's mother wanted him to be placed in a juvenile facility.

"It has affected the whole family.  When he wakes up, he cowers and puts his hands up when I go to give him a hug," Montgomery's mother Rhonda Seger said.

Channel 11's Amy Marcinkiewicz reported the judge gave the 14-year-old a lecture.

"We're glad my client can go home with his family and learn a lesson," said defense attorney Steve Valsamidis.
