Jumper cables cause 2 cars to catch fire; massive flames nearly spread to home

GIBSONIA, Pa. — Crews quickly extinguished a car fire Wednesday afternoon that was threatening to spread to a nearby house.

Investigators told Channel 11’s Alan Jennings that a man was using defective jumper cables when the cars caught fire about 3 p.m. along Anderson Drive in Richland Township.

The homeowner told Jennings that the cars, which were parked in the driveway, were close enough to the house that the flames almost spread. Everyone from inside the home was evacuated.

No injuries were reported, and it’s unknown how much damage was caused to the cars.
