K-9 officer finds robbery suspect in dumpster in North Side

PITTSBURGH — A man wanted in connection with a robbery was arrested early Monday morning after a Pittsburgh police K-9 officer found him hiding in a dumpster.

According to investigators, Emilio Robinson was found in a dumpster on Eloise Street in North Side.

Police said Robinson took a gold chain from a man on Federal Street and East North Avenue. He then took off on foot after the robbery.

Authorities said Robinson was located a short time later in the dumpster on Eloise Street and taken into custody.

“I guess he wanted to get away. He tried,” said William Bell Jr., who lives near the area the suspect was arrested.

Investigators told Channel 11’s Brandon Hudson that Robinson smelled like alcohol at the time of the arrest. They also said the gold necklace was not located.

The victim, officials said, was not hurt.
