Lawyers for beaten Allegheny Co. Jail inmate allege cover-up

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Lawyers for an inmate who was beaten by guards at the Allegheny County Jail allege that a former deputy warden and other top officers also helped to cover up the abuse.

Lawyers for Gary Barbour Jr. said in a motion filed Monday that they want to add former deputy warden Lance Bohn and former captain Thomas Leicht to a pending federal civil rights lawsuit. They're basing the claims on newly released FBI files.

Another former guard, 50-year-old James Donis, was sentenced last week to five years' probation for falsifying an official report on Barbour's beating, which took place in April 2010 as he was trying to escape through the jail's ventilation system.
