Local dentist accused of sexually assaulting woman

ROSS, Pa. — A local dentist was arrested this week after police said he sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman at his Ross Township home.

According to the criminal complaint, 56-year-old Bruce Lanke admitted to police that he assaulted the woman while she was asleep Saturday.

Ross police Detective Brian Kohlhepp said the woman is not a patient of Lanke's.

The criminal complaint alleges the victim was tailgating before a Pirates game and she got so inebriated that she didn't go to the game.

Police said she left to sleep off her intoxication.

"She advised that this occurred basically while she was sleeping and then she awoke to these things going on," said Detective Brian Kohlhepp of Ross Township police.

The victim was taken to a hospital for testing.

Lanke is charged with one count of involuntary sexual deviate intercourse, two counts of aggravated indecent assault and two counts of indecent assault, according to court documents. His lawyer, Kevin Abramovitz, has not commented.

Lanke was released from Allegheny County Jail on $15,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for June 11.
