BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — Six horses found in terrible living conditions, on the brink of starvation, were rescued from a Butler County Farm Thursday.
Volunteers from the Equine Angels said they took the horses from a farm on Cherry Road in Chicora.
The organization said they've rescued over 20 horses this year and believe the poor economy could play a part in the animals' care – or lack thereof.
Equine Angels offers free hay for people struggling to feed their animals.
Officials said animal cruelty charges will be filed against the owners.
