Man, 23, rushed to hospital in serious condition with stab wound

PITTSBURGH — A 23-year-old man was rushed to the hospital in serious condition Friday night after suffering a stab wound during a fight in Brookline.

According to Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Sonya Toler, a fight broke out between two men in the 700 block of Brookline Boulevard and ended when the victim was stabbed in front of Gordon’s Bar.

Toler said the victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was stabbed near his right kidney and is in serious condition.

Kerri Evans said she didn’t see the fight, but she saw her friend injured in the street moments later.

“He was laying on the ground and people were trying to put pressure on his wounds,” Evans said. “It’s horrible. These kids have no respect for anyone anymore. Everyone just wants to fight.

One man was taken into custody and another is being questioned, Toler said.

A woman who works at a store on Brookline Boulevard told Channel 11's Jennifer Tomazic she saw the fight escalate.

“They kept walking down and I called police. A female got slammed to the ground, then they continued to walk down and slammed into a tanning salon. He stabbed him and that’s all I know,” the witness said.

Authorities said the incident remains under investigation.
