DUI suspected in deadly Lincoln Place crash

PITTSBURGH — Police said DUI is suspected in a deadly crash that claimed the life of a 53-year-old man Monday night.

According to police, a driver of a Mazda RX-7 was reported speeding down Mifflin Road and crossed the center line, striking a car in the opposite lane.

Investigators said the driver of the Mazda was critically injured and transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the opposing car was killed at the scene. The medical examiner identified him as Daniel Wolowski, of Pittsburgh. Police said Wolowski's wife was seriously burned when their car erupted in flames.

The Wolowski's daughter told Channel 11's Dave Bondy that the couple had just gotten off work and were headed home when the accident happened.

So far, police have not released the name of the other driver or said what charges may be filed. The crash remains under investigation.
