• Man, 87, dies after Bobcat becomes submerged in Washington Co. pond

    FALLOWFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A dive team found the body of an elderly man in a Washington County pond late Wednesday night.

    According to the Washington County Coroner, Samuel Vignoli, 87, died after the Bobcat he was working on became submerged in a pond at the site of the old Maple Creek Mine in Fallowfield Township.

    The coroner said Vignoli was clearing brush when he lost control of the vehicle, ending up in the pond.

    Family members became concerned when they hadn’t heard from Vignoli, and called 911 Wednesday afternoon.

    A fire department responded before calling in dive teams who discovered Vignoli’s body about 12 a.m.

    An official cause of death has not been released.
