Man accused of offering to perform sex acts on 15-year-old boy

BRIDGEVILLE, Pa. — A 54-year-old Bridgeville man was arrested, accused of offering to perform sex acts on a 15-year-old boy.

According to police, the alleged victim's grandmother told detectives that John Spang preyed on her grandson.

Investigators said Spang, who is the manager at the BP gas station on Route 50, met the victim at the Bridgeville Fire Hall's Monday-night bingo game.

Detectives said Spang asked the boy to wash his car windows for $20. The boy did, and police said Spand said he'd pay him in the bathroom.

According to police, Spang wrote his phone number on the bill and told the boy to call him after bingo.

Authorities said the alleged victim texted Spang, and he called him back and told him he found him attractive and offered to perform a sex act on him.

"She was very upset. Her concern was, 'If he did this to my grandson, then how many other kids has he done this to?'" Bridgeville Police Chief Chad King said.

King said officers identified Spang through a description and the phone number.

"We had the phone number on record for him in 2009. It matched the number on the bill," King said.

County detectives arrested Spang at his apartment, but he is out of jail on $5,000 bond.
