Man accused of strangling his girlfriend headed back to Pa.

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. — The man accused of strangling his girlfriend and then running across the country is headed back to Pennsylvania after he waived his extradition from Louisiana on Friday.

Investigators said Jonathan Beal strangled 19-year-old Justine Jackson and then buried her in a shallow grave.

Officials said her remains were found in Somerset County along the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail last weekend.

Beal was arrested near New Orleans earlier this week.

A vigil for Jackson was held in Cumberland, Maryland on Saturday.
