Man arrested after high-speed chase on I-70, I-79

CANTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Washington County man was arrested Sunday night after leading police on a high-speed chase through Canton Township.

According to police, Dave Reilly was observed driving his 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck recklessly on Interstate 70 eastbound in the area of Jefferson Avenue.

When police pulled Reilly’s truck over, the trooper got out of his cruiser and Reilly sped away.

Authorities said Reilly, 41, went onto Interstate 79 north before getting off at the Meadow Lands exit and then getting back on I-79 south.

Police said the chase reached speeds as high as 70 mph before troopers successfully deployed spikes on the road and disabled three of Reilly’s four tires.

Reilly continued to drive through a residential neighborhood on his rims before ditching the vehicle in the area of Cozy Corner Bar, police said.

After a brief chase on foot, Reilly was subdued using a stun gun and taken into police custody.

He’s charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, DUI and several other summary traffic offenses, police said.
