Man wrongly charged in McKees Rocks slaying talks to Channel 11

MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. — Sean Overton was arrested earlier this year and charged in the death of a McKees Rocks man. Since his January arrest he's been in jail, until Thursday, when police said another man was charged in the case.

"I know they said what they said, but I knew I didn't do it," Overton said.

Overton was charged with the beating death of 61-year-old Isaiah Dent, a well-liked community activist. A witness told police Overton was to blame and they arrested him at his mother's house.

"It took every breath out of me. I said, 'Not my son, not my son. Ya'll got the wrong guy,'" LeSean King, Overton's mother said.

King said she was home with her son the night of Dent's murder, but no one would listen.

"Only a monster would do something like that and my son is not a monster," King said.

Overton said after spending nearly two months in jail, he couldn't believe the charges were withdrawn.

"I didn't know I was actually coming home. I just thought I was going down for another court hearing or something," said Overton.

Overton and his family said they knew the truth would eventually come out.

"We prayed and we prayed and we prayed and nobody did this but God. I put all praise into God. He did this. He brought my son home," King said.
