Mayor Ravenstahl, local volunteers participate in National Day of Service

PITTSBURGH — Mayor Luke Ravenstahl joined local volunteers on Saturday for Operation Gratitude in Pittsburgh as part of President Barack Obama’s call for a National Day of Service.

Ravenstahl and the volunteers, which included his ServePGH staff and his son, Cooper, gathered at the Homewood Ame Zion Church on North Homewood Avenue at noon to prepare care packages for Pittsburgh military families.

Since Martin Luther King Jr. Day coincides with the presidential Inauguration Day on Jan. 21, Obama asked that all citizens join him in participating in a National Day of Service on Saturday, Jan. 19.
