FBI, New Brighton police investigating Facebook post referencing Columbine shooting

NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. — Police are investigating a Facebook page created under the name of an individual involved in the shooting at Columbine High School several years ago that mentions New Brighton.

According to police, the Facebook page, created under the name of Eric Harris, posted, “Goodnight New Brighton. Ill see you all tomorrow at school. Sweet Dreams :) #RachelsChallenge :)”

Upon learning of the post, the New Brighton Area School District shared the information with the New Brighton Police Department, and their investigation is ongoing.

The school district released the following statement Thursday, “We were contacted by the FBI and County Detectives, when they were made aware of this Facebook page and we have given them our full cooperation as they conduct their investigation. The district has excellent security measures in place for the protection of our students and staff. The appropriate individuals in the district were alerted to the situation. If anyone has information regarding this situation, you were asked to contact the New Brighton Police Department or the Beaver County District Attorney.”

Authorities have not released any information about their investigation.
